About RESONANCE…..

The shapes, colours, light and textures of my surroundings here on Dharawal land and beyond,

resonate with strong visual messages that speak to me of both beauty and decline.

Many of the works in this exhibition interrogate my personal feelings about extreme climate, about the threat of that pounding drum “climate collapse”.

This threat has become a compelling theme and my work is now almost exclusively about the precariousness of our land and seascapes.

I want my works to bring attention to the perils of climate change without being didactic – to honour the fragile landscape while grieving its demise.

I also try to convey the tension between the evocative vistas of extreme weather events and the ultimate destruction it brings.

There are also some more celebratory works in which I pay homage to the distinctive features of the Illawarra including the

Illawarra Flame tree, the particular nature of the early evening light, its creeks, waterfalls and looming escarpment.

What we have here is precious.

I try not to take it for granted and hope that in some small way my work might encourage a heightened awareness and a renewed determination to take care of it.

Please note that parking is limited at Clifton now that the Imperial Hotel is up and running.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could travel to and from Clifton via public transport, Uber, taxi or car pool.
